East Knoxville Community Birth and Health Center

The Fall 2012 design studio course was focused on researching and developing the program for a birth center to be located in the Magnolia Corridor of East Knoxville.  The site offered direct access to the nearest hospital, a standard of all birth centers, ample buildable site, and an existing house to be repurposed for staff functions.

Visits to local birth centers and hospitals, and lectures from midwives, nurses, massage therapists, and clients of birth centers were all a part of the research process.

All work, two- and three-dimensional, was created with Revit.
